The Meaning of the US Constitution Clause “Provide for the Common Defense” and Health Care Coverage in 2020

After residing underneath the protection of the American Constitution for my entire life as a 28 year old I decided to create a project in which I am going to delve into the Constitution and Health Care. Every American should know his or her own rights and by studying the Constitution we are only furthering life in America. Respecting our nation and the leadership that has been placed for such a time as this should encourage American citizens to see through party lines and care more about one another. Americans should be more mindful of the words that we use to describe each other’s parties. The terms we use to describe one another — ‘they’, ‘them’, ‘the democrats’, ‘the republicans’, makes our nation sound uneducated. That being said we should never be complacent with selecting leadership and we should actively seek better leaders then our current circumstances.

The Preamble of the American Constitution —

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

The preamble seeks to establish peace through positive leadership — and with thought to generations that would take our place in the future. The preamble starts by stating ‘We the People’ meaning that even though leadership has been in place we are no different from one another and everyone is equal disregarding socioeconomic standing (SES). That everyone deserves justice and safety. The statement providing for the common defense also goes past financial difficulties to protecting the parties who could potentially be harmed and to promote general Welfare. The meaning of general welfare is that everyone in our nation is protected. This clause leaves a doorway open to socialism. Socialism in America could be exemplified by the Food and Drug Administration FDA. If there was a time that these words were not true than the Constitution has been legally violated and Americans should remember the meaning of the word liberty and the right to try in court what is perceived as wrong.

Americans should seek to know the law of our land and to be aware of helping others should a time arise in which the Constitution is not remembered or there is an unfair treatment to a citizen who is unable to defend himself or herself. This clause opens the doorway to socialism. Gas and water socialism and FDA regulation is interesting to consider if the federal government should outweigh state rights. There are examples of times in which the federal government agencies should take over state rights but is health care coverage something American should socialize? A lot of American citizens argue for decreased federal involvement in state rights. Personally I believe in gas and water socialism and that America already is a socialized nation. We operate in socialism and not as many people recognize this. The Constitution left a doorway open to socialism is this clause and America can get by with socialism.

America is a democracy that needs to appreciate everything we have in place. We have been blessed as a nation and need to continue seeking leadership that is God honoring and concerned for everyone. It is okay to be an activist in promoting the well-being of America but to be a Christ follower is better. It is important to pray for our leaders and to respect the general well being of our land. Being aware of socialized health care in different nations including Europe should help more Americans realize why we want positive leaders with health care coverage protection. Do we want to be like other nations or can we learn from other nations and protect ourselves?

We want to have the best health care coverage in the world and we can model ourselves based on other nations who have good health care. This statement is a juxtaposition because America should be leading in health care coverage, But currently to change our health care system entirely might lead to more socialism then we actually are ready for. America is a democracy in which we operate on choice. We are used to having options and choices given to us in health care. What if we go along with the socialized agenda to such a degree that is unreturnable and then we complain that we have lost the health care setting we know of today. Americans need to do their research and consider universalized health care as socialized. Leadership on both parties need to research everything as well before making political decisions that will influence the people.

Gas and water socialism keeps our nation healthy. But are we ready to lose more options in health care cost and for our coverage to disappear. It is important that both the Democratic party and the Republican party establish a plan that will only benefit America for both today and into the future. There are extremely intelligent individuals on both sides of the fence and together through a bipartisan movement perhaps they can surpass the current health care plans being debated. Maybe studying the Constitution again will help leadership remember to want to make America great through more breakthroughs in medical science and better access to health care coverage.
